Yes

4.0.2 Will skills atrophy if they aren't used? (54 comments)

No. Once you learn a skill it's yours for life unless you decide to unlearn it.

4.0.3 How do spells work? (0 comments)

All of the character classes in World of Warcraft have access to spells and/or special abilities. As a character levels, they can purchase, train, research, or simply find new spells and add them to their spell book and/or ability book. Casting spells and using special abilities generally requires mana and may sometimes require one or more reagents.

While casting a spell, a bar will appear as shown here. This bar signifies the casting of the spell and when completed fires the spell off. Each spell will have a different interruption rate and casting speed.

4.0.4 Will there be buffs? (0 comments)

Yes. Stratics gives us a hint in their preview:
"Mr. Roper moved on to attack a Harvest Golem after having buffed the orc character with some spells." and "You can as mentioned previously by Blizzard, click through your character and throwing buffs on yourself is done simply by selecting your character by clicking on the character portrait, which is located at the top left corner with the HP and mana bars, and then use the spell you want.

4.0.7 Will there be pet skills? (0 comments)

Yes. There are currently 2 types of pets in game.

Warlocks receive "Demon Pets" whcih are summoned beings that perform their masters bidding. There are various kinds of pets for different playing conditions. The summoned pet is always the same level as it's master.

Hunters have the ability to charm pets, which if fed and cared for will perform their master's bidding. Hunters have to take great care in keeping their pets well fed and happy otherwise they might turn on them.

Yes. In addition to crowd-control spells such as these, there will be a wide assortment of other spells and abilities that will vary the tactics players use to defeat monsters. Some examples are Call Lightning, Fear, and Dominate. Remember, though, that the monsters will have access to these too... =)

4.0.10 Will Hunters who train in bows and rifles always be better than say a Warrior who has trained to the same level of said weapons? (0 comments)

They will very likely be very similar in skills; however, the Hunters will have additional abilities with those weapons that are unique to the class. This will ultimately make them more powerful with ranged weapons.

4.0.12 Can you cast a spell while running or falling? (0 comments)

There are some spells which can be cast while "on the move."

4.0.13 What is 'cast time'? (0 comments)

This is the amount of time it takes to cast a spell. When you are casting, a Progress Indicator appears ,letting you know how much time remains. If you attack, the Progress Indicator drops, delaying the casting of the spell. You can continue to cast or you can drop the spell by moving. Getting hit by an interrupting ability will also drop your spell.

4.0.14 What is 'channeling'? (0 comments)

Many spells must be maintained or "channeled" to achieve their full effect. This applies mainly to mass-damage area-effect spells (Blizzard is an example of such a spell), although there are a few other spells that also require channeling. You will know a spell requires channeling when a progress bar appears with the word "Channeling" in it. If you are interrupted by moving, attacking, being attacked, or if you try casting something els, or being interrupted by a monster the spell will not be completed and you will have to try casting it again.

4.0.15 Do all spells make me wait through Progress Indicators? (0 comments)

No, some are instantly cast. Instantly cast spells cannot be interrupted or delayed.

4.0.16 If moving cancels my spell, does that mean I can't cast and run at the same time? (0 comments)

Some abilities can be cast while you're running. However, most require you to be standing still. The warning message that appears when you are unable to cast a spell will let you know if you must stand still, or what other error is causing you to be unable to cast the spell.

4.0.17 What is 'cooldown'? (0 comments)

Like many abilities, spells can have cooldown times. This is the amount of time that needs to pass before you can cast the same spell again. This time is fixed by the spell name, and not dependent upon your mana reserves or other variables. Mousing over the spell will indicate the amount of time remaining in the cooldown timer.

4.0.18 What is a 'leash spell'? (0 comments)

A Leash Spell is an ability in which your character lassos the target with a stream of spell effect. Life Drain is an example of a Leash spell. You must be within range to cast and if your target moves too far away the spell will cancel (it will be out of leash range) before it reaches its full effect.

4.0.19 How does line of sight (LOS) work? (0 comments)

Most abilities and spells require that you be facing the target and that you can see it. You may receive a LOS message, indicating that you need to move to get a better view.

4.0.20 What is a 'dispel' or 'de-buff'? (4 comments)

A de-buff is a hostile spell that is cast on the enemy, or cast by monsters on yourself. Spells like these do damage over time, or modify your character in a negative way. You will need to remove these abilities with a "Remove Curse", "Dispel" or any abilities that provide a similar effect. Short of that, you will simply have to wait until the de-buff's timer is up, and it goes away by itself, which is much more common.

4.0.21 What are spell reagents? (0 comments)

These are spell components (special items) that you need to have in your inventory in order to cast some spells. If you do not have the item, you cannot cast spells that require that item.

4.0.22 Can a monster resist my spell? (0 comments)

Yes, when your spell is resisted you will see "resist" displayed. Higher level creeps have a better chance of resisting your spell than lower level ones.

4.0.23 Can you set a spell to autocast as in Warcraft III? (0 comments)

Players can not autocast spells, however pets are able to automatically cast.

4.0.24 How can I get new spells? (0 comments)

New spells can be found by visiting trainers or in books which are dropped by monsters. You can also find them by completing quests or purchasing them from other players.

4.0.25 Do buffs have a time limit? (0 comments)

Yes.

4.0.26 Do spells require skill points to learn? (2 comments)

No. Spells require the appropriate level and cash to train.

4.0.27 How do you unlearn skills? (2 comments)

You can do this by opening your character panel.

4.0.28 Can I unlearn weapon skills? (1 comment)
